Hartwoodmyres is organically managed, grazed only over the winter, hence is a site of many wild flowers and ground nesting birds during the summer. The beginning of July is normally a good time to view orchids, it is hoped that there will be some this year.
We start with a short walk alongside a quiet road to the Bishop’s Stone. From there we follow an undulating path to the Trig Point at 353 m/1158 ft above sea level which is an excellent view spot, returning by a looping path back to the start.
The path walking is good but single file, however if leaving the path to view orchids (if they are there) the ground is uneven and therefore poles and boots would be recommended.
Circular walk, grade D, very leisurely. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.
