Tiger Bay Ramblers (TBR) is a walking group for people of working age. It is based in Cardiff but walks across South Wales and beyond.

The 'Salmon Leaps' walk starting from the town of Dinas Powys is a popular figure of 8 route through a mixture of open fields and woodlands. We will start outside Dinas Powys train station before passing through Dinas Powys itself and crossing into Dinas Powys woods. From there we will follow footpaths towards the village of Michaelston-Le-Pit and then we follow alongside Wrinstone Brook where it is apparently possible to see leaping salmon (but I never have!!). The walk continues through quiet tracks before opening up into fields towards Cwm George and Casehill Woods. The walk will finish at the starting point in Dinas Powys where we will likely end with coffee and cake.
The walk is likely to take approx. 3-4 hours including a lunch stop.
Getting there: trains arrive at Dinas Powys train station from Cardiff central at 10.41am and 10.51am. There is also a bus stop directly outside the train station served by the 95 and 304 buses.
The walk is mostly on well-trodden foot paths, but these can get muddy so please wear suitable footwear. The route is dog friendly with only a few stiles, but please we aware there are a few fields that can have horses/livestock in. There are also a few sections on quiet country roads.
At the beginning of the walk there are toilets and small shops in Dinas Powys to purchase drinks/refreshments, but after this there are no further toilet facilities or opportunities to purchase refreshments.
Tiger Bay Ramblers welcomes everyone on its walks and this year we are celebrating the first anniversary of our new walking and hiking group for people in their 20s-30s, based in South Wales.
If you are under 40 years of age and looking to have fun, get fit, and meet a welcoming bunch of people, then this will be the ideal group for you!
