📍 Coaley Peak (free but limited parking - car share where possible)
Walk Overview:
We'll begin at Coaley Peak with views over the river Severn Estuary. After this we will head into Buckholt Wood and through some farmland leading us to the first significant climb and fall in Coaley Woods. The next two significant climbs of Cam Long Down & Cam Peak quickly follow with views to the Estuary & Dursley. A more leisurely walk through the outskirts of Durley will follow to rest the legs. After leaving Dursley, we'll continue to Uley Bury Hillfort, which will be our final large climb, before walking through the woodlands back to Coaley Peak.
Walk Details:
- 🥾 Distance: 10 miles
- ⛰️ Terrain: total ascent of 550m with 4 significant climbs
- 🕒 Duration: Approximately 5 hours (including breaks)
What to Bring:
- Sturdy walking shoes/boots
- Water and snacks
- Weather-appropriate clothing (sunhat, waterproofs, etc.)
- A sense of adventure!
Travel & Parking:
Limited parking available near the start – please consider car sharing if possible. Let us know in the comments if you can offer or need a lift.

Dogs are not permitted on this walk, except for registered assistance dogs. If you have any concerns about route suitability, please consult with the walk leader beforehand.

We encourage you to take photos on our walks, but we ask that you do not share photos that include people’s faces publicly (including Meetup) without their clear permission.
Occasionally, group photos may be taken during walks. The photographer will always tell you where these will be shared, such as Meetup, the 20s and 30s members’ WhatsApp group, or for promotional purposes on the Gloucestershire Walking Group website.
If you do not want to be in a photo, please step aside.
