Overview

May Hill & Clifford’s Mesne Walk (7.4 miles, 425m ascent)

Join us for a 7.4 mile circular hike exploring May Hill, Clifford’s Mesne (one of the most mispronounced village names in England!), and some gorgeous Gloucestershire woodland. Expect a mix of rolling climbs (425m over three ascents), cute villages, and a good dose of forest therapy.

📍 Meeting Point: Near The Glasshouse Inn, GL17 0NW

Parking is limited, so please carpool where possible.

🕤 Timings:

  • Meet at 9:45am for a 10:00am start.
  • Lunch stop at May Hill summit – stunning views across the Severn and out towards Wales.
  • Optional post-walk drink at the Red Lion Inn, Huntley.

⚠️ Hazards & Notes:

  • Main hazard: tricky A40 crossing (management plan explained in briefing).
  • Other usual countryside factors: short road sections, livestock, slightly overgrown paths.
  • Pace will be leisurely, especially up the hills – nobody left behind.
