We carried out a recce on Tuesday 12th when it was very wet. We wore wellies and were grateful. Hopefully the weather will be kind between now and the 21st and things will have dried out somewhat. If this is not the case we would recommend waterproof footwear. A walking pole would also be useful.
There is some walking on lanes leaving and re-entering Meonstoke, but the rest is off road, part of it on the South Downs Way and part on the disused railway.
There is one stile soon after the walk starts, and whilst not the easiest in the world, your friendly guide will be on hand as always.
We flirt with the foothills of Old Winchester Hill, and there is one incline as we go towards it, but then turn off on the South Downs Way. The views however are stupendous.
There are likely to be muddy stretches and some surface water, but lots of fun and the option of very good pizzas for lunch.
Please plan to arrive by 10.00am in time to order lunch and use the facilities before setting off at 10.30am.
Please book a place using the email link, confirming that you are staying for lunch.
