This is a circular walk in Twyford and Shawford with the added benefit of an early extended stop for coffee/tea, cakes and ice-cream at Platform 1 cafe, Shawford.
We set off from Twyford, across the water meadows, through Compton Lock and dropping down into Shawford. After the break we will return via another part of the water meadows, past St Mary’s Church, along quiet roads, using footpaths and open fields to reach the Water Works, Twyford. We then head across fields and back down into the village, again along quiet country roads.
We meet in the car park of the Phoenix Inn, High Street, Twyford SO21 1RF, and the pub will be open from 10am for us to place our lunch orders and use the facilities. Please only use the car park if you are staying for lunch. If you are only walking there is alternative parking at Hunter Park, Park Lane (behind the allotments at the top of the lane) and you can join us in the pub car park. The number 69 bus from Jewry Street stops after the cross roads and close to the pub.
Booking is essential by 6pm Tuesday and numbers will be limited. You can use the email link and please say whether you wish to stay for lunch.
