We are the Winchester Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
The route follows part of the Roman Road, believed to have been built in the 1st century AD. This road was once a key military and civil link between the Roman towns of Winchester (Venta Belgarum)and Silchester (Calleva Atrebatum) It is an easy walk with just a slight incline about half way through. The path is in good condition, with no stiles. If it rains, there may be a few puddles along the way, but otherwise the walk is straightforward and enjoyable.
After the walk, we have booked two tables at the pub restaurant. You will be able to place your food order either before the walk begins or once we return. Please book a place by 7 October, confirming that you are staying for lunch. You may use he email link.
The Holly Blue, Bradley Way, Beggarwood, Basingstoke, RG23 7GF (situated on the southern edge of Basingstoke. Travel up the A33/A30 and at the second set of traffic lights turn right into Beggarwood Lane and right again into Bradley Way. The postcode on the pub website is wrong.
