It is an easy introduction to the New Year at around 4.25 miles. There is one slow incline in the middle but nothing too challenging, and only one stile. There is a limited amount of road walking but only on quiet lanes.
The course is inclined to be muddy if there has been rain in the days beforehand, so a walking pole would be a good idea for those who use them. There are however some splendid country views, assuming we can see them.
We pass the delightful 13th century grade II listed St Andrews Church at Meonstoke and a unique war memorial which is worthy of note.
All in all, weather permitting, it will be a fitting entry into 2026, and rounded off by one of the Bucks Head pizzas, what’s not to love.
If the weather turns out to be too bad and we have to cancel, you may wish to turn up for lunch anyway, as we will, just to meet up with everybody.
Please book a place using the email link and indicate if you would like to stay for lunch (no pre-orders necessary) and also in the event of cancellation for bad weather, whether you would like to join us for lunch anyway. We have to call the pub on Tuesday to firm up numbers so please reply by early Tuesday at latest.
