Overview

It is a new walk as far as we can tell, and it is rather longer than usual at 6.5 miles. There is only one slight upward incline towards the end, and no stiles or livestock, and is a varied walk offering views across fields at some points and is through woodland at others. We walk through the charming village of East Stratton at the outset and Brown Candover on the way back, which are the only road sections. The former is along very quiet lanes and although the latter is a busier road there are grass verges on which to seek refuge.

On the recce there were plentiful supplies of mushrooms along the early part of the track for those keen on poisoning, and lots of pheasants running around towards the end of the walk for those who are armed. There is also one section coming into Brown Candover which is narrow and has nettles growing on both sides, so long trousers  would be recommended. A walking pole might also be useful for those who have them.
