From Kings Somborne we climb up to join the Clarendon Way which we leave after crossing the delightful River Test. Then on from Houghton we walk to Broughton and rejoin the Clarendon Way briefly. From Broughton we head back to Kings Somborne via Bossington and Horsebridge. We are walking through fields, a little woodland and on grassy paths, made up tracks and paths and for a little while on a quiet country road. Of the 180m of ascent one climb is of about 45m near the start and about 60m over 1km after Broughton around lunchtime.
It is a good walk. I first walked in 2008 when I assessed it for the Readers Digest Book of The Most Amazing Places to Walk in Britain. Used copies of this may be picked up for £3.50 online and I am happy to sign! I was paid the princely sum of £25 for this.
