Starting from Culham Lock, we initially cross the road to take an admiring look at the River Thames from Sutton Bridge before re-crossing the road to take field paths into Sutton Courtney, from where we wind our way along various tracks to reach the Drayton East Way. We then follow the Drayton East Way, field paths and tracks before crossing the B4016 to reach the outskirts of Drayton. From there, we head to Sutton Wick, stopping to look at the RAF memorial and attractive duck pond (complete with duck house), before continuing across fields and walking beside the River Thames into Abingdon. Passing Twitty's Almshouses and Brick Alley Almshouses, we reach St Helen's Church, where there should be time to view the Medieval ceiling paintings and incredible William Lee memorial tablet, depicting his very large family tree. We return to our cars via Abingdon lock, field paths and the Thames Path. There are 7 stiles, all in reasonable condition although some will be slippery following rain. The majority of the paths are firm and naturally there will be some pavement walking into and through Abingdon.
