A moderate circular walk of about 8.5 miles from the market town of Alcester, passing through sleepy villages and the peaceful countryside of West Warwickshire. The walk will start and finish at St Nicholas Church, where the High Street meets Church Street. (Opposite the Roman Shears Barbershop.) From the car park there are many passageways through to the High Street where you turn left to find the church.
We walk down Malt Milk Lane, with its picturesque ancient timber-framed cottages, and cross a road into the village of Oversley Green, walking over a listed bridge where the rivers Arrow and Alne meet. We proceed uphill along Primrose Lane, eventually crossing over the A46 Stratford Road by footbridge. We walk alongside the edge of Oversley Wood to Exhall, then follow the Arden Way to travel NE through Upton, Haselor and Walcote. We now walk N to Great Alne Mill and on to Great Alne for a lunch stop at St Mary Magdalen Church. From here, we go NW then W then S along the Heart of England Way back into Alcester. There are four stiles on the walk.
There are various inns and cafes in Alcester to cater for your after-walk treat.
