Our walk starts in the picturesque village of Aldbury, which is a popular filming destination. Many a murder has taken place here.
We head south west out of the village, past St John’s Church, into open farmland. We pick up the Ridgeway Path, walking through Aldbury Nowers Nature Reserve. Excellent views may be seen across the Chilterns. Our walks continues across Pitstone Hill and we cross a minor road to reach farmland on the other side. Sheep are grazing in this field so dogs should be kept on a lead. We carry on to Clipper Down and Duncombe Terrace, which brings us to the Bridgewater Monument and Ashridge Visitor Centre, where we’ll stop briefly. We descend Tom’s Hill returning to the village of Aldbury. Refreshments available at the end of the walk in Church Farm Cafe.
Route is muddy in places and you may wish to bring walking poles. Sturdy footwear advised.
There are no stiles.
