Overview

Starting at Oakbank Car Park we take a woodland track around Calderwood. We follow the River Almond for a bit. Then leave it to do a bit of road walking past Muirend Farm to reach the Union Canal Towpath. We cross the Almond Aqueduct then make our way down to the Union Canal feeder which we follow along to Mandela Bridge. We do not cross this bridge, but make our way up to the Larchwood Path, across fields and follow a path back up to return to Oakbank Car Park.
Our route follows mostly good tracks, with some road walking and some woodland paths which can be quite muddy and slippery. There are a few steep steps and some tree roots avoidance is necessary.
