The first half is a slow climb uphill through woodland, open meadows and alongside a horse training stables. There are good views of the surrounding countryside fom various points on the walk. There is a little road walking on very quiet country lanes but a majority of the walk is grass or track. There are only two styles but if there has been a lot of rain some sections may be muddy
