Overview

This is a good winter walk that includes something of the transition zone where the Peak District's gritstone and limestone regions meet. More dramatically, the limestone forms the sheer cliffs towering over Wolfscote Dale,  giving a theatrical Peakland landscape.

There are good paths through pasture and woodland although the dale can be subject to flooding if there has been heavy rain. There are a variety of tea shops in Hartington.
