Overview

A pleasant walk, heading out through suburban Altrincham, then picking up stretches of the Trans Pennine Trail, Bridgewater Canal and around Dunham Massey grounds. May be muddy in places.

Leader: Jude, meeting at Walk Start

Ascent: 150 metres

Transport to Walk Start: 09:54 tram (final destination Altrincham) from Manchester Piccadilly station.

Meet Point: On the Metrolink platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the tram or at Altrincham Interchange.

Suggested Ticket: Metrolink Zones 1-4 Off Peak 1 Day Travelcard £4.90

Walk Start: Altrincham Interchange (SJ770879 / postcode WA14 1EN) near the ticket office and bus stand D at 10:30.

Waypoints: Seamons Moss Bridge, Trans Pennine Trail, Bridgewater Canal, Little
Bollington, Dunham Massey Hall & Deer Park, Dunham Forest Golf Club, The Devisdale.

Return Services: Trams to central Manchester every 6 minutes

Extra: There is a rail strike on this day, so there may be no trains to get you into Manchester to connect with the tram. Toilets at walk start and en route at the approximate halfway point at Dunham Massey. OS Map 268 (Wilmslow, Macclesfield & Congleton). No dogs on this walk
