Train based walk

Leader: June (meeting at walk start)

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Levenshulme station.

Transport to Walk Start: 10:51 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Buxton).

Suggested Ticket: Levenshulme Off Peak Return £6.00

Walk Start: Levenshulme Railway Station at 11:00

Waypoints: Cringle Park, Cringle Fields, Heaton Moor golf club, Heaton Mersey common, Heaton Mersey bowl, Mersey Vale Nature Park, Trans Peninne Trail, Helix, Viaduct Park

Return Services: Frequent services to Piccadilly at least every 10 minutes up to late at night

Extra: Please use the toilet on the train. No toilets at walk start. No toilets en route. Optional drinks at the end of the walk . Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs).:

This is a shorter walk suitable for beginners who are fit enough to walk 6 miles comfortably, There may be some paths which can become very boggy after wet weather, and substantial outdoor footwear is needed. 

The route winds through quiet areas of Levenshulme, Heaton Moor and Heaton Mersey before following the route of the Mersey River into Stockport town centre, 

There are currently path works taking place at Heaton Mersey common. If these works are finished when the walk takes place, an additional half mile will be added to the journey to take in 2 additional waypoints.
