Overview

Leaving Ampleforth we head towards Yearsley woods to complete a short loop before following the path towards Gilling East. After lunch we will cross fields towards Ampleforth College and walk up through the grounds. Climbing Beacon Bank we reach the highest point of the walk providing views back to Yearsley Woods (if it's clear) and over Ampleforth village. We will then head back down into Ampleforth to complete the walk.

🅿️ Free on street parking in Ampleforth. The main street is usually quite busy with parked cars, there is also Station Road and Mill Lane to park on. Please park considerately and consider car sharing if possible 

🐶 Dogs are permitted on the walk but must be kept on a lead at all times, there are multiple styles to cross 

🥾 The walk will be muddy so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear 

🚻 There are no toilet facilities at the start or during the walk, but pubs in the village will be open at the end of the walk 

🥪 Please bring a packed lunch 

🍺 There are a few options for refreshments at the end of the walk
