Overview

This will be a 6 miles Leisurely circular walk before the we commence the AGM at the Square Deal, 22-23 The Square, Huntly.  The walk will be to the north east of Huntly, in the country to the east of the River Deveron and the railway line and to the west of the A97 heading up to Banff.  We will walk west to the railway line to Keith and take a track alongside for a mile.  The main wooded section of the walk then follows for the next mile through Kinnoir Wood.  The route goes round the northern edge of Mungo Wood, with views to the west and north.  Much of the woods have been felled on the return route south.  We come out into open country.  There follows one very easy low gate to climb to access a large field.  The views are now to Clashmach Hill looking south.  We reach the gate into northern end of Battlehill Wood.  From here it is less than a mile back to the car park through the mixed woodland.

Nature of the terrain – Tracks and paths, one field to cross.  There are often lovely views to the surrounding low hills and the more distant countryside (including Ben Rinnes).

Bring a snack and something to drink for the walk and a packed lunch which we will have at 1pm, at the Square Deal, before the AGM, which will commence at 2pm.  Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided from about 1.15pm.

As usual there will be a raffle for club funds; donations of unisex prizes would be gratefully appreciated.  Suggested value £5 but is entirely up to you.

We look forward to seeing those who are able to attend.  Refreshments will be available for everyone, even if you do not attend the walk.  Remember to bring some cash for the raffle tickets.
