A circular (figure of eight) walk starting from the National Trust car park at Devil’s Dyke. From the viewing point we descend the NW flank of Devil’s Dyke through wooded valleys to Poynings. A short road section (relatively busy, but with good visibility) takes us around the west side of Newtimber hill. We then climb through more mature woodland to reach its broad summit with plenty of stopping places to admire the views. Dropping down to Saddlescombe, then climbing up the SE lip of Devil’s Dyke before joining the South Downs Way (SDW). At this point, those wishing to shorten the route could return easily to the start point, where refreshments are available. We then drop down towards Fulking, stopping for lunch overlooking the valley. Thenfollowing the concessionary paths along the northern foot of the escarpment before climbing Edburton Hill and returning along the SDW to our start
