Starting at Ringshall, this is a meandering walk designed to take in some of the less well-worn paths on and outside Ashridge Estate, a 5000 acre National Trust conservation woodlands, meadows and chalk downlands of the Chiltern Hills. Please bring your National Trust card if you are a member to enter the bluebells preservation area of Dockey Woods. Otherwise, there is a £3.50 charge at peak weekends for non-members, paid at the gate. Picnic lunch is at Aldbury, where there is also the opportunity to see the grand Pendley Chapel with the medieval Whittingham-Verney tomb, which was transferred in the late 16th Century from Ashridge House, which we will see on the way back. Some muddy bits, so paths can be slippery and hiking poles are recommended. Bring a picnic lunch.
