Overview

The walk starts from the large sculpture, Monarch of Auchmountain Glen by George Wylie. The route follows a well maintained path through the ''Fairy Glen'' which has been recognised in the Scottish Walking Awards as ''The Most improved Walking Place'' in Scotland. The path ascends 15 staircases and crosses 8 bridges, always following the Cartsburn as it cascades over spectacular little waterfalls and through beautiful natural scenery. One last staircase and we are out of the Glen and on to a grass path to Whinhill Reservoir. Continuing round the reservoir we are briefly on the golf course before heading up to Craigieknowe Burn. At the Water Shaft the track is left behind and we follow a faint path up through the moor to a boggy farm track. The going, although wet is easy and soon we are at the base of Corlick Hill. 994ft. At the ruins of the old farm steading we can leave our back packs and climb the hill.  There is one stile to cross at the foot of the hill. At the summit there are information boards detailing the Roman connection, and a vivid description of the Greenock Blitz during WWII. Descending to our backpacks we will have lunch before returning by our outward route. The views are spectacular as we look down over Clyde.
