We will set off from Harlaw reservoir car park and head in a south easterly direction towards the first of our four reservoirs, the Glencorse Reservoir. This reservoir is stocked with fish and it's possible to witness anglers reeling in their catch. The next leg of our walk will have us walking south west along Logan Burn, towards Loganlee Reservoir where we will pause for a coffee/ tea break. At the South Western limit of Loganlee Reservoir we will be at the closest point on the walk to Scald Law, this being the highest elevation in the Pentlands at 570m. We are not going up Scald Law. Shortly, before Bavelaw Castle we will stop for some lunch, after which we will continue on to the penultimate reservoir and this one is Threipmuir, across the ford before we reach Harlaw Reservoir and return to the cars.
This is a pleasant walk that will have us walking in the heart of the Pentlands, meandering between the high point without any significant climbing; steady and gentle ascent and descent are the norm. The ground under foot varies between well trodden tracks and a short section of tarmac. If it has been wet then there is the likelihood of some muddy sections.
