An undulating walk starting locally at Woodbourne garage on Ditchling Road. We'll walk through woodland and fields to Old Boat Corner and into the beautiful Stanmer Woods. On to High Park Corner where we emerge and walk up the hill to Ditchling Beacon for a tea stop (c.4 miles).
Fine views on a clear day. Along the tops and then on to Stanmer village for a picnic stop (c. 6.7 miles) where there's also a cafe and toilets. Approx 2 miles via the edge of Great Wood, after lunch back to the starting point.
Accessible by public transport- bus 79 arrives at Surrenden Road at 10.05am and its a short walk along Ditchling Road from there. Other buses available.
For car drivers, free parking along Cuckmere Way.
If you can, please RSVP to this walk via our Meetup site. This will give the walk leader a rough idea of how many people may be attending. If you are a paid up member of the Ramblers organisation, you can ignore any waitlist you may find yourself on.
We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. Click here (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership) to apply. The cost is very reasonable and there are also other benefits. Please then bring your membership card with you.
