Overview

Beginning this walk delightful woodland paths lead us from Barnt Green through the country park uphill to the visitor centre, next to which we head right for the views and descend then after crossing the road to join the North Worcestershire Path (NWP), which runs along the northern edge of the county. Apart from a detour to enjoy panoramic views from Cofton Hill, the NWP is followed for the next 2.5 miles, until you join the Worcester and Birmingham Canal towpath for a stroll to reach Bittell Farm. Leaving the towpath, walk past fields of grazing alpaca, visit Upper Bittell Reservoir, then join a woodland path alongside the River Arrow before taking to the fields again for the return to Barnt Green.

I graded this as moderate as it’s uphill to we get to the views where there will be, possibly, an early “elevenses”. Lunch will on the canal by a public house.
