The outward walk starts through a cool pine forest following well worn tracks with a few short steep rises along the way. We emerge and walk along the route of one of three railway lines enclosing the walk area. Not surprisingly, we encounter several railway bridges, passing under/over and over the tunnel mouth and follow the track to meet the canal, along which we walk, back to the canal centre. This makes a varied and cool summer's walk.
