It is hard to imagine a more lovely summer walk than this one around Chichester Channel with the sight and smell of the briny sea. Bosham at the start and finish of the walk is a charming little village, we take the short passenger ferry to West Itchenor and while there are colourful yachts with sailors busying themselves the walk has moments of solitude, no main roads and peaceful 12th century Apuldram church. On a clear days there are views to the Isle of Wight and Chichester Cathedral..
The walk begins at Bosham Car Park (cost £5.50 for the day) and there is a coffee shop in the village. The passenger ferry to West Itchenor (where there is another coffee shop) costs £3. At Dell Quay, towards the end of the walk, we may well stop at the Crown & Anchor which has fine views over Chichester Channel. Please bring a picnic lunch. There are a number of toilets along the route at coffee shops and pubs. There are no stiles of hills. The walk starts on a falling tide, so we shouldn't get our feet wet.
