We walk the short distance from the Visitor's Centre Car Park at Beacon Fell Country Park, up to Beacon Fell summit. We then drop down before ascending 1,417ft to the top of Parlick, a cone shaped hill in the Forest of Bowland. Expect to see gliders in the sky from the nearby Bowland Forest Gliding Club.
After taking in the views we drop down and head to Chipping, and enjoy the sites of this very pretty village. We then gently meander through fields as we head back to Beacon Fell.
Possible sightings of wildlife may include grouse, deer and rabbits a plenty.
Many footpaths are overgrown and a number of stiles have seen better days. There is also quite a lot of boggy ground, particularly near stiles! Having successfully negotiated several gates with a number of tricky securing devices, walk participants could feel like a contender in the Krypton Factor or Crystal Maze. This however all adds to the fun of the walk.
There are toilets at the start of the walk and also in the centre of Chipping. There is a pay and display car park adjacent to the visitors centre. The payment system was however out of order at the time of the walk recce and therefore it was free to park. This obviously may be different by the time of the walk.
