The walk begins in Hemel Hempstead, following the scenic Chiltern Way long-distance footpath before we reach the ornate Gaddesden Place manor. Along the way, we will cross through the scenic Shrub Hill Common and admire beautiful views across the valleys that lead to the Ashridge Estate.
We will cross the pretty River Gade twice during this walk - enjoying our lunch beside it, while taking in the wonderful watercress beds that adorn its boundaries. We will briefly stop at an olde worlde pub called The Crown and Spectre mid-walk, enjoying its quaint decor and flower-laden garden.
We then head back to the start point, passing through some of Hemel Hempstead’s very nice parks along the way.
For anyone arriving by public transport, Hemel Hempstead Railway Station is just under a mile away from the start point. The Walk Leader is also happy to give lifts from the station if arranged at least one day in advance.
Please bring packed lunch, water and wear decent walking boots.
