A lovely circular walk of Beecraigs Country Park which has 913 acres set in Bathgate Hills near Linlithgow.
We will be walking on woodland paths and waymarked trails up gentle hills to the trig point of Cockleroy Hill and around Beecraigs Loch and viewpoints.
We start from the main car park at the Visitor Centre, walk behind it and do a short circuit of Hillhouse Woods. We follow the trails through the woods and up to Cockleroy Hill with its magnificent views in all directions.
From there we proceed on a variety of tracks, some road crossings, kissing gates onto small forest trails and open pathways throughout the park until we finish back at the Visitor Centre.
Woodland trails with exposed tree roots mean care must be taken and mud on the trails is likely.
There is some road walking.
There is no public transport to the Park but Linlithgow is the nearest station.
The Visitor Centre has a cafe that we intend to visit at the end of the walk.
