Walkers must book in advance with the walk leader
A hill near Ardentinny which, although clearly visible from the Helensburgh waterfront above the Kilcreggan Peninsula, is seldom visited. It offers glorious views - if the weather is kind.
Beinn Ruadh is a familiar but seldom visited feature on the skyline north west from Helensburgh. Anticlockwise circular starting from Drynain (Glen Finart), up to Sligrachan Hill then ridge path to Beinn Ruadh, with outstanding views over Loch Eck to the west, and Loch Long and the Firth of Clyde. Descent into valley to re-join Drynain Glen path to finish.
Local Grade: B+
Terrain: Forest paths, then open moor ascent to bealach between Castle Craig and Tom a Bothain. Short, steep, grassy final climb to Sligrachan then moderate path along craggy, rocky ridge to Beinn Ruadh, boggy in places. Open moor descent to Drynain Burn and rejoin path.
