Overview

A pleasant circular walk along the historic Grand Union canal, past the totem pole and canal fields, heading uphill to the Ashridge estate (National Trust) woodlands and Berkhamsted Common, site of WW1 practice trenches, before returning via the castle. Picnic/café lunch stop at Ashridge. Estimated finish 4pm.
