Overview

This is a lovely walk with far reaching views to the north and along the Black Mountain escarpment above Talgarth. This is a strenuous walk due to the initial steep climb and some rough ground. However, we are starting the walk already quite high up and our ascent is mainly before coffee. There will be plenty of time to stop and enjoy the views, weather permitting. If the weather is not suitable for a high level walk (strong wind, rain and poor visibility) there will be an alternative low level option from the same starting point.

The best way to get to the open access land of Rhos Fach is via Talgarth. Follow the road uphill out of Talgarth passing the church and keeping the old hospital to the right. Take the right hand fork and after 2km you will reach Rhos Fach. Parking on the grass or safely at the side of the road at the far south eastern side of the common avoiding sheep.
