Start on Riverside Drive, Aberdeen near the Bridge of Dee. Walk over the Bridge and along the river then up to the mature woodland of Tollohill, where we follow a track west to reach the Prince Albert monument. We leave the wood at its SW corner then via a minor public road to the Causeymounth Road and then on to farm tracks.
Behind Banchory-Devenick Primary School, we reach more woodland with a coffee stance, table and chairs provided. Above this, we have two more short stretches of woodland before emerging onto a farm track. After another short length of public road, we reach the Blue Hill summit for a splendid view (we hope) over the city and indeed all round.
We return via very quiet minor public roads to go through Tollohill Wood again, and reach the Bridge of Dee via some new housing above Leggart Terrace.
Terrain - Surfaces mostly easy (especially on descent) but a little mud in places, and some fallen trees and branches on rougher ground in the higher woodland.
This is a joint walk with Stonehaven Ramblers.
