Overview

Meeting at 9:30am at Queen Street Rail Station, Glasgow G1 2AF at the Travel Information Centre opposite Marks and Spencer. We will board the train arriving at 9:43 am at lower level Platform 8 westbound which has a final destination of Balloch. Walkers should buy a return ticket for Balloch, as we will get off the train at Bowling then walk to Balloch. The walk is a distance of 10 miles on mostly flat tarmac paths (comfortable shoes and sun cream/drinks/water proofs advised). The first section will be walking along the Clyde canal, then after stopping for lunch at a suitable spot in Dumbarton town centre we will continue alongside the river Leven to Balloch. We should arrive in Balloch around 15:00 hours, walkers may return immediately by the 15:08 hours train or spend time in Balloch. Return trains are half hourly until 18:00 hours then hourly until 22:44 hours should anyone wish to spend time in Balloch.

A moderate paced 10 mile walk mostly along river and canal banks, with time to explore Balloch at the end if you wish to do so. We will stop for a picnic lunch in Dumbarton. Note: We will pass through a field of cows near Renton.
