Overview

Weather permitting, this will be a lovely walk starting in Box.  We make our way up to Ditteridge and the village of Colerne.  We will have an early coffee stop in Colerne where there may be an opportunity to purchase coffee and a snack at 'The Coffee Shack' (from van outside Church).

We make our way through Thickwood and descend to the lovely Cotswold village of Slaughterford. Here, there may be time for a quick paddle at the beach!  After climbing Common Hill, we descend to Ford for our lunch stop at The White Heart pub.

We return to Slaughterford along the By Brook river valley which joins the Macmillan Way.  There is a section here that is very muddy. We have a brief climb up to Hussey Hill, through fields, footpaths and woods, passing 'No Notion Cottage'.  We will also see Rudhoe Manor (recently the HQ of the RAF Defence Communications Network).  We cross the A4 at Box Hill village where we will have an afternoon tea stop.  After our ascent up to Hazlebury Manor, we descend through Privett's Wood via Henley, returning to Box and the Car Park.

Please be prepared for some road walking on this route.
