A pleasantly varied & entertaining walk that links the best of the ‘East Mendip Way’ with some less well-known footpaths in & around Shepton Mallet - Very rural, beautiful & pretty gentle for the most part!
The walk begins at the lovely village of Croscombe & makes its way to the old viaducts of the ‘Somerset & Dorset Railway’ that skirt Shepton Mallet, before we cross Ingsdon Hill & take a break at the pub in Chelynch - It’s then on to St. Aldhelms Well, (source of the R. Sheppey), before returning to Shepton Mallet & exploring some of its delightful, old streets, inc. ‘Kilve Court, the Prison, the Market Square & Bowlish, before we then return to Croscombe via the meadows of W. Compton.
Expect gently rolling hills, gorgeous wee villages, quintessential English countryside views, & to wonder why you’ve not visited these parts more often!
