This walk starts with a train journey to Bradford-on-Avon, please note the timings below and that you must buy a return journey to Bath:
Meet point will be on the First Great Western train service leaving from Weymouth at 07.33hrs
Calling at Dorchester West 07.46hrs
Maiden Newton 07.59hrs
Yeovil Pen Mil 08.23hrs
ETA at Bradford-on-Avon 09.14hrs
Trains from Bristol will arrive at 09.18hrs if travelling from that direction
The return fare is appox. £25 but will reduce to appox. £16 with a railcard or buying a Groupsave ticket.
From here we will take the Kennet and Avon canal tow path, passing over Avoncliff and Dundas
aqueduct with the river Avon below, a short diversion along the Somerset coal canal for coffee stop
at Limpley Stoke refreshments and toilet, from there we will retrace the short path to pick up tow
path and onwards towards Bath, passing the old pumping station at Cleverton, Bathampton Village
on entering Bath passing Sdyney gardens, then dropping over several lock gates into its final destination
point at Bath.
