For a change this a predominately hard surfaced route which takes via country lanes, and woodland to Johnston where we walk parallel to the railway track before we join the Brunel Trail a cycleway made by converting the abandoned branch railway line. We pass along side West Field Pill nature reserve and through Neyland Marina finishing at the Historic Brunel Quay. There is leaf mould in the woods dependent on whether the surface has been swept / cleaned or not.
There is a potential to do a shorter 4 mile walk if you leave the group at Johnston and return self guided by bus to Haverfordwest.
For a relaxed pace we are aiming to catch the 349 Tenby to Haverfordwest bus at 15.51 hours arrive back at 16.12 hours, then we climb the hill to our parked cars to finish around 16.30 hours. Note the intension not to have forced march.
Please bring refreshments for a morning hot drink stop and packed lunch. Don’t forget your bus fare or bus pass for the return journey.
Expect cyclist and dog walkers particularly on the Johnston to Neyland section.
Sorry no dogs please .
If you normally car share are coming from the south of the county you may wish to car share from Neyland > (note the walk leader is not organising this)
Please check the walks programme the afternoon before the walk for any changes
