We will be exploring the beautiful South Shropshire landscape, from Bucknell village up, along the Redlake Valley, up into the wooded Bucknell Hill, and back down.
There are lovely views across into the Radnorshire hills, the woodland atop Bucknell hill is very peaceful, and Bucknell itself is a classic countryside village.
The walk includes a significant hill climb, a few stiles, and a descent back down on a mix of track and field. Rather than lots of up and down, this walk has a consistent uphill section and a consistent downhill section, but it isn't terribly steep or intense. In places, the track underfoot has some loose rock so walking boots recommended.
We will be on a mixture of track, field, woodland path and road. There are short sections along quiet country lanes, with no pavements in some areas. Sheep and cattle are present in some fields, and with the road and stiles, the walk is not dog friendly.
We will end near the Sitwell Arms pub where you can stop for drinks or food. There are no toilet facilities on the walk.
We will pause for a drink and snack along the way, so please bring a snack and plenty of water.
