Part 6 of our Wales Coastal Path series. This one will be much more forgiving than the walk from the previous day. An easy walk hugging the coast with views across the Menai Strait, then following quiet lanes and an old railway path into Bangor.
From Llanfairfechan promenade, the route goes through the traditional park and then onto more open coast and saltmarsh. This central section is peaceful and picturesque, walking on natural paths and foreshore alongside coastal nature reserves. It is wonderful for birdwatching and there are good views across to Puffin Island, Anglesey and Penryhn Castle. The final section turns inland at Aber Ogwen, on lanes through Llandygai then following the disused railway line path to Porth Penryn, and onto Bangor, ending by the pier.
