Join us on a walk around the Hopton area of South Shropshire.
Our walk will include visits to two historic sites as we make our way to the River Clun: Hopton Castle and Clungunford Motte. We will then follow the river downstream for a while as we look at the beautiful views of the surrounding hills and woodlands in the Lower Clun Valley.
This is a relatively flat walk with some short uphill sections. Please bear in mind that the walk includes quite a few stiles and livestock along the way.
Travel Details
We will be starting and finishing at Hopton Heath Train Station.
As a group, we can travel by train from Shrewsbury at 10.06am arriving in plenty of time for the start time at 11am. Walkers travelling from Telford Central would leave at 9.32am. There is room for some on-road parking for those who can't easily travel by train with the rest of the group.
The train back from Hopton Heath leaves at 16:23 and gets to Shrewsbury at 17:06.
If you have any questions about the train journey or need advice on travelling from other areas then drop me a message so I can help.
Refreshments
If we make it around the walking route on time, there is a cafe by the train station that we can visit at the end of the walk before the train home. We will be stopping for a lunch break at Clungunford Motte.
