Overview

Using The Sandstone Trail and connecting paths to circuit the Peckforton Hills towards Beeston Castle. Views over the Cheshire Plain and often in woodland but shorter sections on tarmac lanes.

The paths on this walk are now excessively muddy and puddled including and especially The Sandstone Trail. Gaiters and a walking pole(s) would be useful. There is an initial steady climb onto Bulkley Hill and later a steep, now muddy, but mercifully short climb through the Peckforton Estate. There is some walking on tarmac lanes which relieves the constant dodging of mud.
