Overview

Our walk starts in the small village of Ysbyty Ifan in the Upper Conwy Valley. The first part of the route follows one of the main north Wales drovers’ routes through the hills, crossing the rivers Eidda and Rhyd yr Halen. Then we come to the open moorland which we will cross via Rhiw Lwyd, Carreg-y-big and Hwylfa before returning to Ysbyty Ifan via Padog. Much of the walk is within the National Trust’s large Ysbyty Ifan estate. There should be good views over the moors, down the Conwy valley and across to Moel Siabod and the Carneddau mountains. This route has been provided by our member Diane Smith who says it is one of her favourite walks.
