Oswestry Ramblers welcome people who enjoy walking and the countryside. We walk twice a week mainly in Shropshire and Wales and help improve local footpaths.

The walk starts from the Raven Inn car park near the Llanfair Railway station in Welshpool.
The initial part of the walk includes a gradual incline then quiet lanes and fields heading towards the Dingle Nursery via Lower Llanerchydol .
The next section follows a quiet country lane for approximately 1.4miles from Frochas to Gaer. The route then heads towards the golf course with an unexpected mire (Wildlife Trust)on the the route up Golfa Hill. Fantastic flora and fauna that come to life in May and June, make this a perfect time to walk here. (On a previous Rambler walk in 2025 a number of Heath spotted orchids. were seen. )
The route then follows a section of Glyndwr's Way up Golfa Hill which has some steep sections but these will be walked slowly with occasional breaks , as the 360 degree views from Golfa Hill are spectacular. This is where the lunch break will be taken.
Should the weather be hot or very wet the way up to Y Golfa and surrounding area does include more protected and shaded sections.
The final section of the walk continues along Glyndwr's Way and heads back to Llanerchydol Hall on a lovely downhill path and finally back to the Raven Pub.
Please bring lunch, snacks and drinks for the two stops we will take.Additional short water stops will be built into the walk as required , if it is a hot day.
Public toilets are available at various locations in Welshpool( Tesco, Morrisons)and for customers at the Raven Pub. Toilet stops will be made available along the route.

The Raven pub car park (Car parking will be checked with the managers at The Raven and car registration numbers will be passed on to the duty manager for walkers who choose to park at the pub car park. The manager has asked for walkers to park on the gravel area just past the sheds and double park if required .)
