This is an eight-mile circular walk from the picturesque village of Cadgwith to Lizard Point with spectacular views along the coast path. Returning via Lizard Village, we cross fields and pass the solitude of Grade Church and St Ruan’s mystical well to the start.
From Cadgwith car park we drop down into the fishing village with its two beaches separated by The Todden promontory and its cluster of cottages. Toilets are available before we join the coast path. Following a steep climb out of the village we get to peer down into the Devil's Frying Pan before continuing our walk with expansive sea views. We will stop for a coffee/snack break at the picturesque Church Cove before skirting the new Life Boat Station as we head for the landmark of the Lloyd’s Signal Station and Marconi’s Hut.
The Lizard Lighthouse is now within sight followed by our lunch stop at the most southerly point on the mainland and a toilet break. The walk now heads inland to Lizard village and across fields to the quiet serenity of the lonely Grade Church and St Ruan’s Well before a short walk back to the cars.
The coastal path undulates, with numerous climbs and descents but eases after Church Cove.
There are about a dozen stiles on this walk but a helping hand will ease your traverse. The Rambler phrase is "There is no style in crossing a stile safely."
With the prolonged heavy rain, the going will be muddy. Good walking wellies or rugged boots are essential. Bring a drink and packed lunch to keep the energy up.
