Overview

This is a varied and pleasant circuit of farm and woodland, with Calke Park as its ’centre’, starting near the hamlet of Calke, visiting Staunton Harold reservoir, Seven Spouts, Hangman’s Stone, Ticknall, and Dimminsdale lime pits.

Bring packed lunch. Refreshments and toilets available at Staunton Harold reservoir, which is one hour into the walk. No toilets at start. There is the possibility of free roadside parking on the lane approaching the car park from Calke hamlet.

Meet at the Severn Trent Round car park, which is a National Trust pay car park (£4.00/day), free to NT members, near Calke hamlet, which is by the exit from Calke Abbey Park. Do not try to access this car park from Ticknall through the Abbey Park, or you may get stuck in the queue for the Abbey, and be charged excessively for the privilege!
