This walk is a celebration of our incredible gritstone edges. From Longshaw, we will pay a visit to Tumbling Hill, with its wonderful view along the Derwent valley, before continuing to Froggatt and Curbar edges, and returning along the more remote White Edge. Weather permitting, we should get some spectacular and extensive views of the upper Derwent valley, and distant Kinder plateau. There should be opportunities to spot red deer stags, which will be too exhausted from their seasonal activities to run away…
Bring packed lunch.
Mindful of the short daylight hours, we will be starting at an earlier time than usual. This walk crosses areas of high exposed moorland. It is vital that walkers bring adequate food, warm clothing, waterproofs and strong waterproof footwear. Bear in mind it is the winter season, and regardless of the forecast on the day - be prepared for rapidly changing and potentially worsening conditions. Underfoot conditions can be challenging, with tree roots, boulders and bogs to negotiate.
