This is a 7 mile walk from Cardross on the banks of the River Clyde to Balloch on the shores of Loch Lomond.
The route follows an ancient Coffin Road used in the 19th century by those living in Balloch to reach the consecrated ground in Cardross where they could bury their dead. It is a steady climb uphill to a maximum height of 366M. There are beautiful views from the top where we will stop for lunch and then a gentle descent into Balloch.
We begin on tarmac then a dirt road which is rocky and uneven. Good walking shoes or boots are recommended. There are no toilets during the walk until we arrive at the Shores Shopping Centre in Balloch.
if you wish to join this walk you must contact the leader no more than 2 weeks in advance by text or email. Please also provide the leader with a mobile number in case arrangements change.
